Cloudhouse is a UK-based enterprise technology company, headquartered in London since 2010, that specialises in application modernisation, packaging automation, and IT configuration management. Its three products, Alchemy, Foundry, and Guardian, help organisations run legacy Windows applications on modern platforms, automate large-scale application packaging, and continuously monitor their IT estate for configuration drift and compliance gaps, all without rewriting a single line of code.
Cloudhouse is trusted by large enterprises and public sector organisations navigating complex IT change. Customers include government departments, National Australia Bank, Experian, Royal Mail, NASA, NYSE, Amadeus, and Rackspace. The platform is particularly suited to organisations in regulated industries such as financial services, government, healthcare, and manufacturing, where application continuity, compliance, and security are critical.
Cloudhouse was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in London. Over more than 15 years, the company has helped hundreds of organisations modernise their IT estates without disruption. Cloudhouse was named 13th in the Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 and is the original technology behind AWS's End-of-Support Migration Programme (EMP) for Windows Server.
CHANGE is Cloudhouse's core strategic positioning as 'the change enablers'. It reflects the company's belief that enterprise infrastructure will always evolve, and that applications, compliance, and configuration management should keep pace without forcing costly rewrites or disruptive migrations. Every Cloudhouse product is built around enabling IT teams to manage change at scale, with confidence and control.
Alchemy is Cloudhouse's legacy application compatibility and modernisation product. It packages and ports Windows applications from outdated operating systems (such as Windows XP, 7, Server 2003, 2008, and 2008 R2) to modern, fully supported platforms, including Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022, as well as cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. Alchemy does this without requiring any code changes, refactoring, or source media.
No. Alchemy requires no source code, no refactoring, and no recoding. It works by abstracting the application from the underlying operating system, isolating its runtime, and applying a redirection and compatibility engine that intercepts Windows API calls. The application behaves as though it is running on its original supported platform, even when deployed on a fully modern OS or in the cloud.
Alchemy supports applications originally built for Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2, as well as Internet Explorer-dependent applications. It enables these applications to run on Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022, including all major cloud-hosted desktop environments.
Yes. Alchemy packages are cloud-agnostic and portable across all major cloud providers, including AWS EC2, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. They are also compatible with desktop-as-a-service platforms such as AWS WorkSpaces, AWS AppStream 2.0, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Citrix Cloud. A single package can be deployed on-premise, in a hybrid environment, or in the cloud, removing the need to repackage for different targets.
Cloudhouse is the original technology behind AWS's End-of-Support Migration Programme (EMP) for Windows Server. Now that AWS EMP has reached end of life, Cloudhouse Alchemy is the natural successor and the recommended path for organisations that relied on EMP for continued application compatibility. Cloudhouse provides full support for migration from EMP and ongoing compatibility management.
Alchemy resolves compatibility blockers that prevent legacy applications from running on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Rather than delaying OS migrations or accepting the risk of running unsupported operating systems, IT teams can use Alchemy to package incompatible applications and deploy them on modern, secure platforms without disrupting end users. Applications launch from the Start Menu, shortcuts, and file associations exactly as they would if natively installed.
Foundry is Cloudhouse's application packaging automation platform. It automates the entire packaging lifecycle across Windows and Linux environments, converting legacy installers into modern deployment formats, extracting applications from virtual machine (VM) images, and integrating with CI/CD pipelines. Foundry eliminates the specialist packaging bottleneck that slows many enterprise IT teams, delivering standardised outputs and faster deployment cycles at scale.
Large enterprises typically manage hundreds or thousands of applications across diverse environments. Manual packaging is time-consuming, error-prone, and reliant on specialist knowledge. Foundry automates this process end to end, reducing dependency on individual packaging engineers, standardising outputs, and enabling faster rollouts. It is especially valuable during major platform migrations, such as moving from VMs to containers, transitioning to AWS WorkSpaces, or consolidating application estates ahead of OS end-of-life deadlines.
Yes. Foundry's VM-to-container stream automates the extraction of applications from VM images and repackages them as modern container formats, removing the need to manually reverse-engineer legacy installations. This significantly accelerates containerisation projects and removes the barrier of identifying and re-creating application dependencies from scratch.
Yes. Foundry is designed to integrate directly into CI/CD pipelines, enabling packaging to be treated as part of the automated software delivery lifecycle rather than a manual, offline process. This allows IT teams to standardise, version, and deploy application packages with the same rigour applied to application code.
Guardian is Cloudhouse's configuration drift detection and compliance monitoring product. It provides a single, independent view of an organisation's entire hybrid IT estate, continuously comparing configurations over time to identify drift, validate that approved changes have been implemented correctly, and flag unauthorised deviations. Guardian helps IT and security teams stay compliant with industry standards and prove it with an auditable evidence trail.
Configuration drift occurs when the actual state of an IT system diverges from its intended or approved baseline, often as a result of unplanned changes, failed deployments, manual interventions, or system updates. Left undetected, drift can introduce security vulnerabilities, cause application outages, trigger audit failures, and undermine change management processes. Guardian continuously monitors for drift and surfaces deviations before they escalate into incidents.
Guardian monitors on-premise servers, end-user computing devices, network infrastructure, cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), hybrid deployments, and containerised workloads. It provides a unified view across all these environments from a single platform, making it suitable for organisations managing complex, multi-cloud or hybrid IT estates.
Yes. Guardian integrates with major IT service management and change management platforms including ServiceNow, FreshService, Ivanti Neurons, and BMC Helix. These integrations allow Guardian to automatically reconcile detected configuration changes against approved change records, flagging unapproved deviations in real time and providing a clear audit trail for change management compliance.
Guardian includes embedded CIS Benchmarks and supports the creation of bespoke Guardian Policies aligned to specific regulatory frameworks. It continuously monitors configuration compliance against these baselines and generates reports that can be used as evidence for audits under frameworks including FCA requirements, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), DORA, Cyber Essentials, and broader ISO and ITIL-aligned change management standards. Guardian makes compliance something that can be demonstrated continuously, not just at audit time.
Yes. Guardian's drift engine compares configurations at a forensic level and can identify when a change has been made outside the approved change management process. It immediately surfaces these deviations so that security and operations teams can investigate, remediate, or escalate as appropriate, reducing the window of exposure and the risk of an unauthorised change going undetected.
Yes. Guardian offers a free trial. You can register and get started at trial.getguardian.io. The trial gives you hands-on access to Guardian's drift detection, change validation, and compliance monitoring capabilities across your own environment.
Cloud migrations often stall when legacy applications hit compatibility walls on modern platforms. Cloudhouse resolves those compatibility issues before they appear, ensuring every application in the estate, including those that have not been touched in a decade, can move to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud without modification. Cloudhouse packages are portable across all major cloud providers and desktop virtualisation platforms, making it possible to migrate applications once and deploy them anywhere.
Microsoft periodically ends support for older versions of Windows, meaning those operating systems no longer receive security updates or patches. Running unsupported systems creates significant security and compliance risk. Cloudhouse enables organisations to move applications off end-of-life platforms, such as Windows 7, Windows 10 (EoS October 2025), Windows Server 2008, and Server 2012, onto modern, fully supported environments without rewriting or rearchitecting the applications themselves.
Yes. Cloudhouse offers a 100% migration success guarantee for application migrations using the Alchemy platform. This reflects Cloudhouse's deep expertise and the proven reliability of its patented compatibility packaging technology across hundreds of enterprise deployments.
Cloudhouse products are designed to work alongside existing IT management tooling without requiring infrastructure changes or additional training. Alchemy packages are deployed and managed using existing software deployment and management platforms. Guardian integrates with leading ITSM platforms. Foundry connects directly to CI/CD pipelines. The goal is to extend the value of an organisation's existing investments rather than replace them.
Timelines vary depending on the size and complexity of the application estate. Cloudhouse's professional services team works closely with customers to scope, plan, and execute migrations efficiently. For a more accurate assessment of your specific estate, contact the Cloudhouse team or use the form above to request a consultation.
Yes. Cloudhouse's professional services team provides hands-on support throughout the migration lifecycle, from initial discovery and scoping through to packaging, testing, and deployment. Cloudhouse professional services for the AWS End-of-Support Migration Programme (EMP) are also available via the AWS Marketplace.
