Explore Alchemy →Support for SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019 ends on 14 July 2026, and SharePoint 2013 has been unsupported since April 2023. The Windows Server and SQL Server underneath these farms are out of support too. That leaves IT with two heavy routes: a content migration to Microsoft 365, or a build-out to SharePoint Server Subscription Edition. Cloudhouse™ offers a third way. We package your SharePoint farm and its legacy dependencies so it runs on modern Windows Server, keeping sites, documents and workflows live, with no rebuild and results guaranteed.
SharePoint holds the intranet, the document libraries and the workflows that departments reach for every day. For most teams it works, and a migration is the last project they want to take on. The difficulty sits underneath. Both the SharePoint version and the Windows Server it runs on have fallen out of support, and that single fact creates three separate pressures.
SharePoint 2013 lost support in April 2023. SharePoint 2016 and 2019 both reach end of support on 14 July 2026. After those dates there are no security updates, no fixes and no technical support from Microsoft. The farm keeps running, but nothing new protects it.
The vendor routes are a content migration to SharePoint Online, or a build-out to Subscription Edition with a database-attach upgrade. Either is a multi-month programme of content mapping, testing and change management, on a timeline the platform sets for you.
SharePoint 2013 was certified against Windows Server and SQL Server versions that have themselves reached end of support. An unpatched server carrying the intranet is a direct Cyber Essentials Plus finding, and the first thing an auditor raises.
Cloudhouse containerises the application at the application level. SharePoint and its legacy dependencies are sealed inside a self-contained runtime and are never installed or registered on the host operating system. Users reach the same sites and libraries, while the unsupported parts are lifted off the estate.
Alchemy runs legacy Windows applications on any modern platform with no rewrites. Cloudhouse has kept business-critical applications running safely since 2010, and legacy SharePoint farms are among the workloads we package. The same approach that keeps a finance or line-of-business system live keeps an intranet and its document estate live too.
Every team facing SharePoint end of support is weighing the same paths. Set side by side, the trade-offs are clear.
| Migrate to Microsoft 365 or Subscription Edition | Carry on as-is | Cloudhouse | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost and effort | Multi-month migration or farm rebuild | Low now, higher later | A fraction of a migration, delivered in weeks |
| Disruption to users | New environment, content mapping and retraining | None until something breaks | None, sites and libraries are unchanged |
| Support and security posture | Resolved, eventually | Unsupported OS and application, at risk now | Supported OS, legacy risk contained |
| Who sets the timeline | Microsoft | The next incident | You do |
Cloudhouse has packaged SharePoint and the wider collaboration estate around it. Names are withheld, the pattern holds: keep the platform running, take the unsupported operating system off the estate, and avoid a forced migration.
A SharePoint 2013 environment, its web front end, application server and SQL Server 2008 back end, packaged and kept running on a supported platform without a rebuild or content migration.
Custom portals, content-management systems and intranet applications packaged and kept supportable while the estate around them was modernised.
The same approach handles the rest of the legacy Windows estate, from classic ASP and IIS workloads to other end-of-life line-of-business applications.
Engagements are anonymised. Cloudhouse can arrange a reference conversation with a comparable customer under NDA on request.
Tell us where the pressure is: a SharePoint version losing support, an unsupported Windows Server underneath it, or a migration to Microsoft 365 you are not ready for. We will show you the approach on your own environment, not a generic demo.
