Microsoft ended public support for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 on 14 January 2020
Since then, only customers with access to Extended Security Updates (ESU) have received
security patches. The ESU program was scheduled to be available for three years, ending on
Jan 10, 2023.
After this date, there will be no access to security patches for these
platforms. The ESU is
a significant cost for IT organisations.
