SharePoint Server · Legacy Windows · End of Support

Keep SharePoint running past end of support. No rebuild. No forced move to Microsoft 365.

Support for SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019 ends on 14 July 2026, and SharePoint 2013 has been unsupported since April 2023. The Windows Server and SQL Server underneath these farms are out of support too. That leaves IT with two heavy routes: a content migration to Microsoft 365, or a build-out to SharePoint Server Subscription Edition. Cloudhouse™ offers a third way. We package your SharePoint farm and its legacy dependencies so it runs on modern Windows Server, keeping sites, documents and workflows live, with no rebuild and results guaranteed.

The SharePoint problem

A platform your organisation runs on, sitting on software Microsoft no longer updates.

SharePoint holds the intranet, the document libraries and the workflows that departments reach for every day. For most teams it works, and a migration is the last project they want to take on. The difficulty sits underneath. Both the SharePoint version and the Windows Server it runs on have fallen out of support, and that single fact creates three separate pressures.

Support

Support has ended, or is about to

SharePoint 2013 lost support in April 2023. SharePoint 2016 and 2019 both reach end of support on 14 July 2026. After those dates there are no security updates, no fixes and no technical support from Microsoft. The farm keeps running, but nothing new protects it.

Cost

Migrate or rebuild, both heavy

The vendor routes are a content migration to SharePoint Online, or a build-out to Subscription Edition with a database-attach upgrade. Either is a multi-month programme of content mapping, testing and change management, on a timeline the platform sets for you.

Security

The stack underneath is unsupported too

SharePoint 2013 was certified against Windows Server and SQL Server versions that have themselves reached end of support. An unpatched server carrying the intranet is a direct Cyber Essentials Plus finding, and the first thing an auditor raises.

How Cloudhouse solves it

Package the farm. Modernise the OS. Keep collaboration running.

Cloudhouse containerises the application at the application level. SharePoint and its legacy dependencies are sealed inside a self-contained runtime and are never installed or registered on the host operating system. Users reach the same sites and libraries, while the unsupported parts are lifted off the estate.

01 / PACKAGE

Contain SharePoint and its dependencies

  • SharePoint, its runtime and its legacy components packaged together
  • Old Windows libraries, IIS and the SQL client encapsulated, not installed on the host
  • Web front end, application and database tiers handled as one environment
02 / MODERNISE

Run it on current Windows Server

  • The package runs on Windows Server 2022 or 2025
  • The unsupported operating system leaves your estate
  • The host stays patched, supportable and audit-ready
03 / CONTINUE

Business as usual for users

  • No rebuild and no content migration
  • No retraining, the sites and libraries are unchanged
  • Well-governed delivery through testing and go-live
The Cloudhouse approach

A proven, repeatable pattern, not a one-off fix.

Alchemy runs legacy Windows applications on any modern platform with no rewrites. Cloudhouse has kept business-critical applications running safely since 2010, and legacy SharePoint farms are among the workloads we package. The same approach that keeps a finance or line-of-business system live keeps an intranet and its document estate live too.

Your options

Migrate, rebuild, risk it, or package it.

Every team facing SharePoint end of support is weighing the same paths. Set side by side, the trade-offs are clear.

Migrate to Microsoft 365 or Subscription Edition Carry on as-is Cloudhouse
Cost and effort Multi-month migration or farm rebuild Low now, higher later A fraction of a migration, delivered in weeks
Disruption to users New environment, content mapping and retraining None until something breaks None, sites and libraries are unchanged
Support and security posture Resolved, eventually Unsupported OS and application, at risk now Supported OS, legacy risk contained

Proof across the estate

Organisations that kept SharePoint and its neighbours running.

Cloudhouse has packaged SharePoint and the wider collaboration estate around it. Names are withheld, the pattern holds: keep the platform running, take the unsupported operating system off the estate, and avoid a forced migration.

Collaboration · SharePoint 2013 farm

A full 2013 farm kept live on supported infrastructure

A SharePoint 2013 environment, its web front end, application server and SQL Server 2008 back end, packaged and kept running on a supported platform without a rebuild or content migration.

Portals · Line-of-business

Portal and content-management workloads packaged

Custom portals, content-management systems and intranet applications packaged and kept supportable while the estate around them was modernised.

One supplier · Any legacy Windows app

Beyond SharePoint

The same approach handles the rest of the legacy Windows estate, from classic ASP and IIS workloads to other end-of-life line-of-business applications.

Frequently asked questions

SharePoint end of support, answered.

Is SharePoint still supported?
SharePoint Server 2013 lost support in April 2023. SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019 both reach end of support on 14 July 2026. After those dates Microsoft provides no security updates, fixes or technical support. The farm keeps working, but it no longer receives the updates that keep it supportable.
Can I keep running SharePoint 2016 or 2019 safely after July 2026?
Yes. Cloudhouse packages SharePoint and its legacy dependencies into an isolated container and runs it on a supported operating system. The unsupported Windows layer leaves your estate, the server stays patched, and users reach the same sites and libraries.
Do I have to move to Microsoft 365?
Not on Microsoft's timeline. Microsoft is cloud-first, but moving to SharePoint Online is a full content migration and change programme. Packaging the farm with Cloudhouse lets you keep the current environment running and decide when, or whether, to migrate on your own terms.
Can SharePoint run on Windows Server 2022 or 2025?
Yes. Once packaged, a farm built for an older Windows Server runs on Windows Server 2022 or 2025 without changing the application. The legacy components are encapsulated inside the container rather than installed on the host.
Does this mean a content migration or user retraining?
No. There is no content migration and no new interface, so sites, libraries and permissions stay as they are and users need no retraining. Delivery is governed through testing and go-live, and results are guaranteed.
What about SharePoint Designer 2013 workflows?
SharePoint Designer 2013 also reaches end of support on 14 July 2026. Packaging keeps the existing workflows running as part of the farm, so you can plan any move to a supported workflow tool on your own schedule rather than under a deadline.
